Taste of the Wild: Premium Quality for Your Special Pet

Like so many Australians before, you have probably contemplated getting a dog. Why could blame you? Dogs can provide us with the emotional support we all need from time to time, they can significantly improve our mental health, and they are a medium towards better physical activity, as they require us to leave the house and get ourselves involved in a routine.

Maybe it’s a cliché, but dogs truly are man’s best friends. Loyal, lovable, attentive and simply fun to keep around, dogs are more than just animal companions. They are our heart, and they deserve the best. Are you looking for a sign? Then here it is. Go and adopt that pup that you’ve seen on Instagram. Go to your local shelter and get a new fluffy friend that will remain in your family for years to come.

But make no mistake, even though the pet ownership process can be truly rewarding, at times, it can also be expensive and surprisingly challenging. Your pup wants nothing more than to see you happy and to spend his days in your company. But in order to keep himself healthy and ready for daily activities, you will need to use the services of an offline or online pet shop, and go for the products of quality brands, such as Purina or Taste of the Wild.

What Are the Characteristics of High-Quality Kibble?

There are some products out there that you can probably skip on when it comes to price. Does your pup really need a $100 toy when he is more than happy playing with a regular, affordable dog-safe, plushie? Probably not. But the worst thing you can do is to cheap out when it comes to his nutritional requirements.

High-quality kibble is not only a recommendation. It’s necessary in order to ensure your pup develops properly, and that you can avoid expensive vet bills in the near or distant future. We have a special connection with our canine companions. We have evolved together, we shared our history’s greatest moments, and we have forged a bond that’s unrivalled in the animal kingdom.

So, if you love your pet, it makes sense to ensure he has access to the best kibble available in Australia, right? High-quality kibble is characterised by proteins from known sources, it provides a balanced nutritional profile, it’s free of additives or colourants, and it’s low on carbs and filler materials.

Why Choose Taste of the Wild Products?

It’s all about quality and choosing an advantageous price-to-nutritional density ratio. Taste of the Wild products are different from those offered by Australian pet food brands, as they utilise exotic protein sources, which are better for pets that suffer from food allergies.

My parents’ terrier, for example, used to get the worst dermatitis imaginable at least once every couple of months. He was allergic to most common protein sources found in kibble, with the exception of salmon, and he also had a weak immune system, which in turn allowed Malassezia to develop.

We tried everything to make him better, from top brands like Purina to even following a diet of home-cooked food. Nothing really worked until we finally discovered the products sold by Taste of the Wild. Turns out, terriers are not often allergic to bison. Chicken? Sure, it’s commonplace. But bison allergies? Not that commonly encountered.

A Wise Investment

Novel protein sources can be a bit more expensive, that’s true. But they are worth it when you take into consideration the sums you can save up by avoiding future vet bills. Taste of the Wild products have a higher protein percentage than other kibble brands, they make use of 0 filler materials, their carb sources are not grain-heavy, and they often include micronutrients that can boost our pup’s immune system.

Personally, I think choosing their products was one of the best investments we made, as pet owners. Did the allergies go away completely? No. But at least that dog now had a chance at a normal life. Taste of the Wild products contain no BHA or BHT, they often incorporate probiotics in the formula, they are specially designed by pet nutritionists, and, not to be forgotten, they are available in pretty much any pet shop in our country.

Online or Offline Pet Shop?

That’s really a matter of personal preferences. An online pet shop, if you think about it, is a bit more convenient. The products that interest you are likely to be more often in stock than is the case with a local pet store, and you can order them anytime, regardless of your geographical location. The product catalogue specific to online stores is typically much larger than what you can find in your local pet store, and in some cases, even the prices for the listed products are more competitive.

That said, there are also some disadvantages.

1) As long as you don’t purchase products in bulk, you will likely need to pay delivery fees, and they can add up.

2) Delivery will not be instant. Yes, if you live in Sydney or Melbourne, you will probably receive your products in a day or two. But what if you live somewhere in the outback? Online stores are great. But let’s be real here, sometimes, you just need a product immediately. And here is where an offline pet shop will shine.

Local pet stores might not have the extended product catalogue characteristic of online shops. But you can see exactly what you’re purchasing, you don’t have to wait for delivery, and you can often receive personal recommendations from the store’s staff. Reading product reviews is one thing. But sometimes, a personal recommendation is worth ten comparison articles. What you do, in the end, is your personal decision. I like to go for both, even though I guess I tend to use online shopping more often these days. But I could never completely stop using the services of my local pet shop.
